Joseph "Joe" Burschinger
Prior to creating WMT Advisors, Mr. Burschinger was employed by Guggenheim Partners as a Senior Managing Director and Chief Risk Officer. In his primary role, he worked with investment, business, operational and technology personnel to advance Guggenheim’s ability to identify, measure, monitor, and actively manage all types of potential risk attributes within an enterprise framework. In addition, he proactively managed and advised on potential risks across diverse portfolio strategies to best ensure investment objectives are achieved in a disciplined and consistent fashion. He served as a trusted advisor to executive management relating to business, technology, and operational strategy. Finally, he was an active member of Risk Committees at the Investment Company Institute (“ICI”) as well as the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (“SIFMA”) and has advised US regulatory staff on issues related to Enterprise Risk Management, Liquidity Management, and Derivatives Risk Management.
He joined Guggenheim after 13 years at Los Angeles-based asset manager TCW Group Inc., where he most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Risk Officer. Prior to joining TCW in 2000, he spent five years as a Senior Manager in Arthur Andersen’s Financial Services Business Consulting Group in Los Angeles. Earlier in his career, he was a supervisor with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Los Angeles Branch, and an economic analyst with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Mr. Burschinger holds an M.B.A. in International Finance from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Santa Clara University.
